July 12 @ SAT: CELEBRATION! Open house

• Objectives

  1. Celebrate the participants accomplishments, and acknowledge parents commitment to the program

  2. Tour prep (identify student interest in giving tours)

  3. Award ceremony!

  4. Evaluation of program via interviews and a form to fill out.

• You will need

  • A screen to have a running slideshow of photos

  • Printouts of evaluation form (Rani TBD)

  • We usually light a small lamp (floating candles in a nice basin, or traditional oil lamp) at the entrance, and teachers and students are invited to light a lamp. That is a Nagaswatte tradition but I’m wondering if there is a SAT tradition that signifies an important moment..

• Class setup

  Tables all moved to the edge of the classroom in single file, to leave a large blank space in the middle, with prototypes scattered around. Cozy corner stays as is.

1. Arrival

People arrive and have time to look at the gallery wall. Tea/ coffee / snacks will be available while everyone settles in.

2. Opening

3. Student Tour

The children will share their experience of designing an installation for the triennial. They will talk about the ideas behind team’s idea and and the challenges they faced while building the prototypes

Guests are invited to ask supportive questions and join the discussion.

Interviews can happen in two ways:

Opt 1: Facilitator interviews a child, Ahmed records.

Opt 2: Children interview each other and a facilitator + Ahmed films or records
