Let’s Build Great Things! Is an Arts based education project that empowers children and youth with the skills to approach everyday challenges with creativity, curiosity and confidence.

We are a collective of volunteer professionals belonging to a range of creative fields such as art, architecture to graphic design. Since 2012 (with exeption a small hiatus during Covid), we have spent two hours every Sunday at a children’s center in Colombo -drawing from our own practices to create bite sized exercises for children that encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and play. Our aim is to complement the Sri Lankan school system by introducing alternative, exploratory modes of learning—preparing the next generation to navigate an unpredictable future with resilience.

Through architecture and design themed Sunday ‘Art’ classes, students are encouraged to act on their ideas, think critically and make. We promote project based learning and encourage professionals to share their expertise with children.

We currently conduct our ‘art’ classes at the Building Hope Children’s center in Colombo, Sri Lanka where we can reach low-income communities. All the classes are free for the students and are volunteer driven.

Currently, we are working on documenting and sharing our lesson plans with you all.
