July 12: Paper Engineers: Design a shelter for a dog / cat

Intro:
Today we will learn how paper can be folded to make very strong sculptures. Here’s some inspiration (optional to show video) but instead of emergency shelters, let’s think about a small, fun shelter for the dogs or cats we see around the children’s center.
Warm up:
Practice paper construction methods like the ones below. Instead of a base board, a sheet of paper is fine.
Main Activity
Sketch out your shelter and fold paper to create a mini shelter
Cut out a small animal out of paper and place it within your shelter.
