Feb 01: Mural graphics 3: tell a story with only pictures
Intro
Our mural now has a location, (right at the front of the children’s center) Take a walk before class and discuss the problem that the mural is trying to solve. Then, we will practice telling a story in 4 or 5 pictures, with a focus on finding a story to tell through our mural.
The problem: when the children’s center opened 13 years ago, lots of children used the center, but now not so many. Why is that, and what can you do about it?
You will need:
A4 Paper folded into 4 frames
pencil and eraser
paint
A walk
Before class, we’ll take a short walk together to look at where the mural will be. We’ll notice:
• Who passes by this space
• What people might see or feel here was
• What feels missing?
Can our mural draw more children’s center?
Let’s think about how a mural might help tell your story of the children’s center —and your vision for its future.
Discuss: tell a story by looking at 5 pictures.
see below:
Draw your own story in 4 or 5 pictures
Drawing : draw, in 4 frames, a story about a nice memory you’ve had at the children’s center. Your story should have a beginning, middle and end. But remember, this story will only have pictures!
Reflection-
Discuss ideas for the mural, we are starting next week - by starting with a life size mock up on paper.
